Are we Afraid to speak out on Gay/Lesbian relationships?

First of all let me start of by saying (for the world's information), I am a college educated woman, currently working on my 1st novel. I am employed, married and raising 2 healthy, happy kids (by God's grace). I'm from a well balanced and well rounded, loud, rough and bad ass "large" family where I take the role as "baby". I argue and disagree on a regular with family, friends, etc., (we also love eachother so very much), I have swarms of friends/associates (some of whom may be gay or lesbian), I cuss a little bit here and there, I judge, I compete, I like scary movies and I swear. Now for the spiritual side of me (for those Christians-lol), I LOVE Jesus with all of my heart and soul, and I am absolutely mesmerized by the "TRUTH" that he speaks over my life, whether I agree with it or not!!! No matter how it's given to me, if it's "truth" I cant argue with it. Now, I said all of that so that you all will know that as humanly "flawed" as I am, how dare I place "JUDGEMENT" on another!?!!? However my position today is not judging, not at all. My position is on "TRUTH", of which we sometimes dont want to deal with, heck, I definitely at times dont want to hear it! But let's be clear for one moment, "TRUTH", no matter how harsh or real it is, it's what makes us "FREE"!

In my little monologue above, I gave you not even half of what I do or say "wrong" on a daily basis but I did it so the ones who will say that I'm judging will clearly see that I have no place to do so, not at all! Okay, now that the "judgement" of me is out of the way, LET'S TALK!

I awoke this morning to the "news" that was actually being "applauded" around this city, well at least on the radio station (V-103 in particular). The news that Atlanta is ranked the "Gayest City" in the country! Like, is that something we should be "touting"? Would you be proud to be the Most Adulturous city in the country or the city with the most Fornicators, liars or thieves (worst city for crime), etc., etc? Yeah, I admit, it happens, it's here but to be "named" the city that has the most of it, are we asleep folks? So as I'm listening to the radio station, I'm seriously waiting to hear the disc jockey or his side kick, or a caller, or the producer or anybody for that matter say somehting in opposition (again not judging) to this news and, NOT A SOUL!!! Frank Ski actually played "Applause" soundbites after his announcement and not one soul, at least not by the time I got to work, called in to comment.

ARE WE AFRAID yall!?!? to disagree on this topic for fear that someone may not like us, or we may loose a friend or job, or account or client or relationship, or.....and this list actually can go on and on. Not to get into this part of my topic already but heeeerrreee I go, ISAIAH 51:7 clearly says: Hear me, you who know what is right, you people who have my law in your hearts: Do not fear the reproach of men or be terrified by their insults. Then I ask you, why in the world have we not spoken up on this issue? And let's be clear, on my way home, on Ryan Cameron's show, there were some folks calling in with disgust regarding the issue but come on, that's not what this is about and we dare not turn this into a "you're a bigger "Sinner" than I am" debate. We need truth in times like these and nobody, in "my" opinion, is speaking it. Jesus said (2 Timothy 4:2) Preach (and or speak) the "WORD"; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction. In other words, (and this is coming from the international standard version of the bible), "to proclaim the message. Be ready to do this whether or not the time is convenient (whether you get mad at me or not). Refute, warn, and encourage (Love) with the utmost patience when you teach". And there's my point!

I'm not blogging about this because "ouh, were headed to hell because of homosexuality"! No, I'm blogging because I'm wondering where are all the "fb Christians", the bible thumpers, the at work encouragers, where are they "for such a time as this" (I got that one from my old baptist preacher-lol)!? Where are all the people "DECLARING" God's word on a daily basis yet no one has stopped for a brief moment to say (on fb, twiiter, at work, texting, etc., well at least I hadnt received any emails on the subject), "Jesus, forgive us, for we know not what we do". My stomach is churning, and not because of homosexuality, heck this has been going on BC (before Christ) however but my stomach churns at the fact that we, his children, his people seem to be "Afraid" to proclaim his truths because the world from everything to T.V. shows, cartoons, commercials, books, schools, families, etc. has basically said to us, "I dare you to say anything against my lifestyle"! And the devil, that liar that he is, is "DANCING" around us and saying, "I told you God"!

Forgive me please if my words sound angry, they're not. I'm just a little taken back that this is where we are in this country. The media and the world has gotten us so afraid to speak God's word that if anybody goes against homosexuality they make you out to be an illiterate, uneducated, out-of-control idiot. If someone says Jesus, or the devil for that matter, one too many times on T.V. or in a crowd of supposed "progressives", in an article, on your job, etc., you are instantly looked at as a "JESUS FREAK". If one speaks against the ills and sins of this world and what God thinks of it then you are instantly judged to be a "judger" (is that a word?) and you loose credibility because no one wants to believe that a loving, caring God would bring harm or destruction to his people. And that's true, he does love his people (his children) but he chastises the wrong doing of his children just as a parent (God) would do his child (us).

Genesis 19:12 speaks of God's wrath on the city of Sodom and Gomorrah. The two men (angels) said to Lot, "Do you have anyone else here—sons-in-law, sons or daughters, or anyone else in the city who belongs to you? Get them out of here, because we are going to "DESTROY" This place". The outcry to the LORD against its people is so great that he has sent us to "DESTROY" it." Now let's make a point, God didnt just destroY Soddom BECAUSE of homosexuality but because of "ALL" of the deplorable acts (sexually and immorally) that were taking place there. That was everything from fornication, adultry but as well as Homosexuality. To be named the "Gayest City" in the country is just like being named the city with the most "fornicators", etc. We should be crying out to God to help us not only with homosexuality but fornication, lieing, adultry, etc!

Remember all, this is just "My Take" on the days events. I couldnt believe what I was "not" hearing today, not even from gospel radio stations. But I guess they too were probably fearful of all they may loose and didnt feel that they could CORRECT, REBUKE and ENCOURAGE......in "LOVE"!

In ending, "All have sinned and fallen short of God's Glory" Romans 3:23. This is something I do "daily". However what we must do as Christians, is proclaim the truth, in "LOVE", and always, pray (without ceasing) for one another!

Peace out yall & God Bless us "All" with our sinful selves!

  1. YOU HIT IT RIGHT ON THE HEAD, APRIL! Nobody says "something ain't right here" without being called something negative. Nobody. People just go along afraid of causing a conflict somewhere. All the answers as to what is right or wrong are in the Bible, our guide to living life the way God wants us to. Girl, may the Lord continue to bless you for having the strength to even put this out there. The kind of courage you have seems to be mighty rare these days... Blog on, my Mocha Sister! :P Brandy

  2. I lived in Stone Mountain for over 6 years. Believe me when I say that Atlanta is one out of control, diseased and impossible city. Blame it on years and years of Freaknik behavior.

True @ that's not what this is about and we dare not turn this into a "you're a bigger "Sinner" than I am" debate.
